At SLW it is important to teach our students new skills and techniques as well as providing a fun, creative experience that can be enjoyed by all. We encourage the exciting discipline of dance that will give our pupils the chance to learn diverse styles, safe ways to exercise and controlled techniques. Our goal is to allow each member to get the most out of performing arts by building every pupils confidence, co-ordination, creativity and self-esteem alongside teaching the subject. By revealing the steps to achieve certain goals, we can also reveal how fun dance can really be.
Above all, at SLW we want to provide a relaxed, personal atmosphere in which parents/guardians and dancers within the school are welcome to offer suggestions and get involved with all activities and events.
SLW Dance Company also has a brand new home to teach from; Chance 2 Dance Studios in Treasure Island Soft Play, Fingerpost. We will be able to use shiny sprung flooring, floor to ceiling mirrors and it is soon to be equipped with ballet barres! These new facilities are the perfect complement to our fresh faced new Dance Company and will be a big boost to how our pupils will be taught in the future.
A major part of our teaching programme encompasses annual examinations for pupils that wish to gain accredited qualifications. We currently use the Allied Dancing Association Syllabus and train in Ballet, Tap and Modern. Aside from this we provide an annual show at St Helens Theatre Royal, giving parents the chance to see what their little protégé can really do whilst encouraging all the budding stars in our midst to shine as bright as they can!
